The American Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia is hosting our 2023 Annual General Meeting (AGM) at TBA

on March 01, 2023 from 5:30pm to 8:30pm where we will announce the newly elected board and provide a comprehensive update on what we did in 2022. This year we have increased our members in the community by 33% from last year and we hosted over 80 events which marks a new milestone in AmCham Cambodia's history. We will announce our special VIP guests for the AGM very soon.

This year, we will have six open board positions and we have 20 candidates to run for the election for an even stronger 2023. To view all the 20 candidates with their biographies, please click here.

Voting will be done electronically and will last from February 7-21, so please make sure to keep track of your email so that all relevant primary contacts of AmCham members can vote.

Anirban has over 17 years of experience across various CPG (FMCG) categories, in diverse geographic and cultural settings - spanning business, marketing, general management, and innovation functions. During his career, he has had experience working with global companies like GlaxoSmithKline, PepsiCo and Danone, prior to joining his current role at Abbott based in Bangkok.

Apart from work, Mr. Basu is an active cancer activist and enjoys delivering pro bono courses, leadership and marketing guest lectures at various universities. He is also an active early-stage angel start-up investor and currently mentors several young entrepreneurs.

Mr. Basu has been living in South East Asia since 2017 (Myanmar and Thailand) and has been involved with Cambodian markets since 2017. He currently visits Cambodia for work almost every month and offers his flexibility in travel plans to cater to AmCham needs. He is currently serving on the Board of AmCham Myanmar.

From Telecom Engineering to Telecom Management. From Telecom to IT and now to Aviation. My professional journey started 21 year ago in Ukraine, with last 15 years in Cambodia. During this journey I worked as engineer, grown into O&M management, peaked as NOC manager in Smart Axiata with my telecom career. It was time to move on and I joined Biplan Global as CEO. Over last decade under my management Biplan grown from CCTV supplier into one of the top Cambodia`s system integrators and solutions providers. I built a terrific professional team, set up proper business processes resulting in significant growth of customer base, service quality and range of offered solutions and services. I consider myself a very driven person, always looking to challenge the status quo as an innovative entrepreneur.

Ruwan Hulugalle currently serves as Chairman of the Amcham Law Committee and Head of the Corporate and Banking Department at BNG Legal. Prior to joining BNG, Ruwan worked on a range of issues in the public and private sectors including as a private consultant and as commercial advisor for the U.S. Department of State. In his previous work he advised on various commercial issues including market entry, corporate governance, risk management, due diligence, investment facilitation, intellectual property, and dispute resolution in a wide range of industries, and he collaborated with the Royal Government of Cambodia on high level trade and investment matters. He received several honors from U.S. Ambassador Carol A. Rodley for his work including “in recognition of [his] intellectual leadership and logistical management of … a significant event in the economic and commercial development of Cambodia and surrounding countries in the Mekong Region.” Ruwan is a Juris Doctor from the University of Hawai’i and also holds an M.A. from the University of San Diego and an A.B. from Georgetown University in Washington DC, U.S.A.

Henry Joseph Shelonzek III is a brewmaster and microbiologist with over 15 years of experience in the food & beverage sector. Henry specializes in biotechnology, microbiology, and brewing and malting science. He is the creator of “BioWar” - the first student laboratory at the University of Silesia in Katowice, Poland that focused on beer microbiology; Mad Driver - the first Polish brewery that produced non-alcoholic craft beer and Madbiotech a Polish biotech company.

Henry currently holds a position as the general manager and brewmaster at Cerevisia Craft Brewery and as co-vice chair to the Beer Wine & Spirits Committee for the American Chamber of Commerce in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Henry frequently is invited to speak at international events, geared towards food microbiology, non-alcoholic beer production, and brewing and malting science. When not brewing or drinking beer, Henry enjoys hiking, learning new skills, sailing and snowboarding.

Scott Bolls is the Founding Partner of Global Advanced Solutions, G.A.S.G (Cambodia) LTD, based in Phnom Penh. He is also managing Director of Train Square Co Ltd, responsible for redevelopment of the Central Train Station in Phnom Penh. Mr. Bolls is a U.S. attorney and CPA with over 30 years of international business and legal experience. He worked for Goldman Sachs, GE Capital, Ernst and Young, Ocwen Savings Bank and Equipnet in the U.S. and Thailand. He also worked for the German Real Estate Privatization Company (TLG) in Berlin, Germany. Mr. Bolls earned his law degree at the University of Pennsylvania while also attending the Wharton School of Business in the USA. He is an active member of the US Washington, DC Bar Association and a licensed Real Estate Broker in the US.

Mrs. Kim Tol Tan has more than two decades of experience leading teams and organizations in the United States and Cambodia, in the telecommunications, automotive, banking, and insurance industries. Mrs. Kim moved her family from the United States to Cambodia more than three years ago, and she is now the Founder and CEO of Grow4Growth Consultant, a firm that focuses on professional capacity development of staff in a variety of industries through soft skill training and coaching.

As Vice President and Chairwoman of the AmCham Womens Committee, Kim has worked tirelessly to advocate for more support to help empower women through women initiative events and speaking engagements, as well as collaborating with other private and public organizations to help further the agenda on gender equality. Mrs. Kim has three wonderful children. In her spare time, she enjoys reading and traveling with her family.

Varabott is currently Senior Advisor at IAO Asia, Professor at CamEd Business School, consultant for UNESCAP-GGGI on Green & Sustainable Finance, and Vice-Chair of Law Committee at AmCham Cambodia. He has more than 25-years work experience in the Banking & Finance industry with international exposure to Investment Management, Private Equity, Bancassurance and Renewable Energy.

He previously worked at The Blue Circle, the Association of Banks in Cambodia in Phnom Penh, and also in major global financial institutions such as Credit Suisse, Aberdeen Asset Management, AXA Insurance in Europe and Asia. Varabott holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth and is a Certified European Financial Analyst. He also earned board governance post-graduate certificates from Harvard Business School, The University of Oxford and the Singapore Institute of Directors.

SereyVath is serving as Chairman of one of the leading investment platforms in the Kingdom “Innovation & Development Investors Association (IDI) and ID Capital PLC” with 101 members, and with potential for further growth in 2023. During the past decades, he has been actively bridging trades and bringing investments into different companies with foreign shareholders including a software and application development company with American shareholder for US and foreign markets, a medical service company (Hospital) which one of its clinics was also jointly invested with a Singaporean Listed Company, and a real estate venture with Korean investors. On the social front, SereyVath has been volunteering with various key institutions; notably as Member of Board of Trustees of the Entrepreneurship Development Fund overlooking Khmer Enterprise and Member of the Ad-Hoc Covid-19 Vaccination Committee since 2021. SereyVath has been internationally recognized and awarded recipient for his initiatives and leadership including: US-ASEAN Business Council as the only "Rising Star" in Cambodia in 2010 and Poland's University of Communications and Management with Distinguished Leadership Award in 2022.

Vicheka is an accomplished leader with over 20 years of experience in the non-profit sector. Vicheka holds a Degree in Business Management. She is passionate about contributing to a society free from poverty and inequality in Cambodia

ISF Cambodia (ISF)’s Country Manager, Vicheka is responsible for the development, leadership, and overall direction of the programmatic operations of ISF. She manages multi-sector projects on various thematic areas, such as education, gender equality, disability/inclusion, child protection/safeguarding etc. She is responsible for the progress, and expansion of the existing programs as well as for developing ISF’s organizational capacity. Vicheka develops and guides the vision and long-term goals of ISF and facilitates the development of annual and strategic plans to achieve organizational objectives. A skilled team leader, Vicheka has a track record of building strong, productive teams and oversees a multicultural workplace of over 90 Cambodians and international staff.

Chris McCarthy is an experienced leader and digital marketing and technology expert with over 20 years of experience driving digital transformation and change, and more than 10 years in Asia. He has been an active member of the business community in Cambodia since 2014, serving on AmCham’s Charter committee and for many years chairing its ICT committee – and most recently serving on the Chamber’s Board of Governors.

Chris is the CEO of MangoTango, a strategic marketing communications and management consulting firm. The company works on public and private sector clients ranging from Google and Ford to GIZ, the United Nations, USAID and more, and has more than 50 staff at its HQ in Phnom Penh. For the last two years, Chris has served on the Board of Governors of AmCham Cambodia – part of a Board team that has overseen the largest expansion of AmCham in its 25 year history, and leaving it in its most secure financial position. In that time, greatly expanded CSR and advocacy activities have added further value to AmCham, including increased engagement with the Royal Government of Cambodia on laws, regulations and issues of concern to the business community.

Bora Kem is a partner at Mekong Strategic Capital, a corporate advisory and investment firm specialising in the Mekong Region. He is also a general partner of the Smart Axiata Digital Innovation Fund, a venture capital fund that invests in technology companies in Cambodia, where he sits on the boards of multiple portfolio companies. He also advises corporate clients on Mergers and Acquisitions transactions in education, fintech and telecommunications sectors, and government and institutional clients on the issues of digitisation, entrepreneurship, financial policies, and sustainability.

Previously, Bora was the Vice President at Equilibrium Capital Group, a sustainable real asset investment firm; a venture builder at Rocket Internet Southeast Asia; and an investment professional at Putnam Investments and Leopard Capital. Bora has a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Dartmouth College and a Master’s Degree in Finance from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

Dr. Heng Pheakdey has over a decade of experience in working in a cross-functional and cross-cultural team, managing large scale projects, and building partnership with a diverse set of stakeholders. He specializes in policy and data analysis, tech regulations, government relations and stakeholders management.

He is currently leading public policy work for Meta (Facebook) in Cambodia and Laos where he leads engagement with the local stakeholders and supports the implementation of Meta’s projects on digital literacy and economic impact initiatives. Dr. Heng holds a Master in Public Policy from the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy in Singapore and a Ph.D in Social Science from VU University Amsterdam in the Netherlands.

Tom O’Sullivan, CEO Realestate.com.kh has been residing in Cambodia for the past ten years. His education credentials include Management, Human Resource Management, and Commerce/Entrepreneurship at Swinburne Institute of Technology.

Tom’s professional career has been centered around start-ups, social enterprise, tech, hospitality, and marketing. In 2015 Tom joined Digital Classifieds Group, which owns a portfolio of South East Asia and the Pacific’s Leading & Fastest Growing Online Classified Platforms.

Since 2015 Tom has built Realestate.com.kh to become the number one real estate platform in Cambodia. Which includes an ecosystem of services, including websites and apps, physical expos and online expos, thousands of expert guides, and videos to educate local Khmer and international buyers on the real estate market in Cambodia.

Djamel has been in Cambodia since the last 12 years, and has been practicing in Asia as in-house counsel and advisor in law firms. He has been listed in the Legal 500, GC Powerlist 2017 Southeast Asia, being the only corporate counsel listed in Cambodia, and have been shortlisted as In-House Lawyer of the Year in 2017. His background in international law has provided Djamel with a broad exposure, spanning countries such as France, Italy, China, Japan and Cambodia. He has contributed technical assistance to governmental institutions, such as the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law for the preparation of the UNIDROIT-FAO legal guide on contract farming.

Djamel is currently Senior Counsel at Sethalay Law Office and he is registered as an arbitrator with the NCAC. He has been involved as co-counsel in arbitral proceedings under the NCAC Arbitration Rules, including the first emergency arbitrator proceeding. Djamel has also been involved in advocacy and has also acted as Secretary at CCIFC, Chairman of the Human Resources Committee of EuroCham, Member of the GPSFWG, and member of the Labour advisory Committee. He is also lecturing Law courses at the Royal University of law and Economics.

Charles WONG, Co-Founder & CEO of Shrewsbury International School Phnom Penh Charles undertook undergraduate and postgraduate study in the UK, US and China and received an MSc in Global Finance from NYU Stern, USA; an MSc in International Marketing from University of Strathclyde, UK; a BA in Education from University of Liverpool, UK; and a Chinese Law Certificate from Tsinghua University, China. In addition to these qualifications, He received an Entrepreneur Award from South China Media in 2013. Charles is also a registered teacher and worked as a secondary school teacher in his early career; he is also a certified tennis, badminton, and swimming coach in both the UK and Hong Kong.

He has devoted his working life to pursuing the promotion and development of soft skills as part of a well-rounded education. He has built over 100 learning centres through the establishment of a well-connected franchise network in 11 countries. He has developed the EdTech online company Tutor Impact, based in Oxford, UK, which successfully delivers intellectual and character development programmes and recruits tutors from only the top 10 UK universities. Prior to founding Tutor Impact, Charles gained a decade of experience holding senior leadership positions in various global companies, including Sara Lee US, Swire Group, and Siber Hegner Group.

Michael Berg came to Cambodia in January of 2016 and joined RMA Cambodia as the General Manager for the Special Products Division, where he was responsible for a number of subdivisions and brands from the U.S., Germany and Japan. In 2019 he was promoted to Business Development Manager for all of RMA Cambodia, where he was responsible to develop RMAC’s portfolio of brands to maintain the company’s future growth in the automotive, agriculture and heavy equipment sectors.

Mr. Berg is a serial entrepreneur, and is currently involved with several AmCham members, including Pi Investments, Sra’Art, Alexander and Associates, and a number of F&B ventures. Mr. Berg has served on the board of AmCham for the last two years, helped the formation of two committees (Spirits & Breweries, and CSR), and planned the iconic 4th of July Celebration.

Mr. Berg has a Master’s in Strategic Security Studies (MA), a Master’s in International Business Law (Llm), and a BA in International Studies with a Minor in Business Studies and a Concentration in Management. He has a distinguished background in international affairs and management, business administration, and law, while providing best-in-class customer service to a broad range of clients. With experience living and working in Austria, Armenia, the U.S., and Cambodia, Mr. Berg, a U.S. national, is conversational in French, German, Armenian, and Khmer.

Jay Cohen is a partner and director of Tilleke & Gibbins, which is a regional law firm with seven offices in South East Asia. Jay leads the Phnom Penh office. Jay has been working in Cambodia since 2009 and has extensive experience assisting clients and liaising with Cambodian authorities. He is also a licensed arbitrator at Cambodia’s National Commercial Arbitration Centre. As such, Jay has deep insights into the Cambodian market and the concerns of the business community in Cambodia.

Before coming to Cambodia, Jay worked in Singapore for a law firm and South Korea for a local conglomerate in the telecom and energy sectors. He also studied Mandarin Chinese in Taipei, Taiwan. With nearly 20 years of experience in Asia, Jay appreciates the challenges and opportunities of working in the region. Jay is from Northbrook, Illinois and grew up in the suburbs of Chicago.

He received a B.A. from Emory University, and earned his J.D. from Washington University School of Law in St. Louis, alongside an M.A. in East Asian Studies. He has also studied abroad at the National University of Singapore and Hong Kong University. Jay is licensed to practice law in the state of California.

Ivana is Visa’s Country Manager for Cambodia. She is responsible for working with Visa’s clients, and industry and government stakeholders to develop Visa’s globally interoperable, secure, and reliable payments network for Cambodian consumers and businesses.

Ivana was Visa’s Head of Products & Solutions for New Zealand & the South Pacific, where she led the industry efforts to implement Visa products and capabilities in a manner that created growth for the markets. She has also held Senior Sales and Corporate Communications roles for Visa in the Asia Pacific region for three years. Before joining Visa in 2013, Ivana had a 12- year career in corporate communications across payments and banking, as well as B2B consulting through global communications agencies. In this role, she advised a number of global companies, including Accenture and Bayer, on their corporate reputation.

Ivana has built a broad understanding of payments from a global and local perspective. She has a particular interest in the role of innovation in closing the gap between developed and emerging payments markets, and the learnings that can be shared across these markets relating to new technologies, regulation, ecosystem dynamics, and operating models. Ivana has worked in a number of markets – Australia, Singapore, New Zealand, and now Cambodia - and traveled extensively participating in community-building programs and personal physical challenges, such as climbing Mt Kilimanjaro.
