AmCham Cambodia launched its Law Committee last year, and we had an extremely active year.

EVENTS: We hosted several events providing valuable insights into emerging legal trends and fostering robust connections among legal practitioners. Noteworthy events included Business Law Conclave, Real Estate, and Debt Management seminars and others which covered many topics including contracts, advertising, e-commerce, the commercial court, public listing, trusts, real estate, insolvency, regional trade, and mergers and acquisitions.

MONTHLY LEGAL UPDATES: We have initiated a monthly legal update mechanism for AmCham's membership through the generous contribution of publications every month by some of our committee members. Contributions are welcome from all law firms every month, and together we can keep our membership at the forefront of legal developments in Cambodia.

ADVOCACY: Our committee has been deeply committed to advocating for critical issues affecting our community. In the past year, we have made contact with the Ministry of Justice regarding the commercial court. Our collaborative efforts led to the creation of a committee to work on this matter, a landmark achievement in our ongoing pursuit of an improved business environment for the investment community.

PRO BONO AWARDS: This year our legal community has been recognized for its outstanding contributions and exceptional talents, particularly in the field of pro-bono work at the AmCham CSR Excellence Awards.

We are planning for another active year, and we invite all our law members, and those who are interested in law, to join us for lunch at Topaz on Tuesday, February 6, 2024. We will briefly outline what we have done, but more importantly, we will discuss where we want to go in 2024.
